Christmas Blues

Well let's see.....where do I start. Last Saturday we traveled to Springfield,MO to spend time with Erick's family for Christmas. We were all having a great time when on Monday morning Erick got up sick. If it would have been anyone else I would not have even thought twice about it but seeing as how it was Erick and knowing he doesn't get sick very easily I knew we were in for a ride. He continued to be sick through Wed. We started traveling back on Wed and even though he was still sick he wanted to get home. By this time he has lost weight and is having trouble keeping anything in his system. Well Thursday he got up very weak but had to go to work. He started feeling a little bit better and since then has started keeping food down. On Friday, we were supposed to leave for my parents in IN but Nathan got up with a bad sore throat and having to run to the restroom. So after quite a few phone calls we have postponed our Christmas with my family till next weekend. The main reason was so that my mother would not be exposed to anyone sick because of her blood disorder. Now today is Saturday and Jericka woke up running to the bathroom also and I have gotten a touch of a sore throat. So I sit here today just totally bummed out wondering why things go the way they do? I guess God knew all along but it still leaves you wishing you could have just enjoyed the holiday's the way you were wanting to. So I guess I will sing the Christmas Blues and try to make the best of it till the next time. I trust everyone has a very Happy New Year.

I know you are all probably wondering if I still am even out there. I started writing a post last week and then lost it and then found it later....Thanks Amy, but I decided that I would share a picture of the kids with my parents. They were able to come down to see us and be there for the kids Christmas program at church. Nathan and Jericka both had speaking parts and Nathan also had a singing solo. Needless to say he was thrilled that his grandparents were there. I will try to post more later.

How Hard Does He Really Have It?

As the kids were eating breakfast yesterday, Nathan spoke up and said that he didn't want to go to school. When I inquired why he responded that he didn't like one of his classes and said that he was treated like a slave. Wow, I didn't realize that having to write definitions for an hour meant that life was so hard that you felt like a slave. He proceeded to tell me that he never gets to have any fun in that class or at home because all we do is make him work and no play! Which I must say that he gets off easy compared to what I did when I was growing up. So I was wondering if any of you readers out there have any suggestions for me to make him not feel like such a slave.LOL. I tried to explain to him that he doesn't even know what all a slave really had to do and that the phrase shouldn't even be in his vocabulary. So as my title reads.....How Hard Does He Really Have It?

Life in the fast lane

Well I finally decided to face my fears and post about something that happened to us one month ago today. As I was coming home from grocery shopping I pulled in the median to get ready to turn into our driveway and I happen to look up and when I did I saw our back door going shut. I immediately picked up the phone and called Erick and told him what I had just seen. Well he asked me if I had shut the door and then told me to go ahead and drive in the driveway to see if the back storm door was also open. I got up far enough to see that it was wide open so I then proceeded to call the police. The police told me to get out of the driveway and go park somewhere else and wait till they got here. By the time the police got here Erick had also made it home and had driven around and seen that the basement window was broken. By now my heart is in my throat and I didn't know how I would ever go back into our house. The police finally showed up and went in with guns drawn just in case there was anyone still in the house. Talk about a feeling that will not leave for a long time. After coming out and saying that we needed to go in and figure out if anything was missing they said they would come back later and take a full report. Wow, who's side are the really on..... In the meantime our neighbor on the other side of the church where we live had seen two guys running and when they got around the corner of her house they slowed down to a walk. Come to find out they had a lookout guy parked on the street that was letting them know when to get out of my house because they saw me getting ready to pull into the drive. And that is when I saw the back door close. At least I can say that they only thing they got away with was Nathan's cash. They crooks did make one big mistake they ended up using our home phone and dropped it when they were jumping the fence. As of right now we have not heard anything else from the police but I trust that they get caught, because the feeling of violation is still very prominent and I am still nervous about coming home everytime I go out.

Here I come

Just trying this out.
